Why Casa do Mártir? Because it's in the heart of the parish of Martir, named after the martyr St Sebastian, and the house is opposite the chapel in honour of the saint. In fact, the chapel was built with the help of a donation from the family of the former owner of the house, which is described on a tombstone on the outside wall.
